How to share floating licenses
You can share floating licenses among multiple users and devices, or use them locally, similar to fixed licenses. To enable license sharing, follow these steps:
- Access your Chaos account portal.
- Activate the sharing feature for your floating licenses.
- Ensure all users activate Enscape with their Chaos accounts to access the shared license pool.
If you have a dedicated administrator, they can manage licenses by installing the License Server application without the need to install Enscape. For detailed instructions:

How to activate a floating license for Enscape
As a license holder, you can activate a floating license for Enscape, allowing it to be shared among multiple users. Follow these steps to activate and share your floating license.
Download and install Enscape
- Download the Enscape installer from download.chaos.com and run the file.
- Accept the license agreements and click Next.
- Select your preferred language and click Install. The installation will proceed.
Sign in to your Chaos account
- When prompted, sign in to your Chaos account that holds the Enscape licenses.
- Use the credentials for the account with the Enscape license. If you have an existing Enscape login, you may use it here.
- After signing in, you can close the webpage.
Complete the installation and share the license
- Return to the Enscape installer and select your telemetry options, then click Done to complete the installation.
- Your license is now active and can be shared with others on your local network. Remember, only one person can use a license at a time. For multiple simultaneous users, additional licenses are required.
- Share your IP address with team members so they can connect and use the floating license remotely.
How to use a floating license for Enscape
If you're a user looking to engage a floating license provided by your administrator, follow these steps:
Administrator adds users
- The admin logs into my.chaos.com and navigates to the Organization tab.
- Go to the three-dot menu next to Users and select Invite Users.
- Invite users to your Organization. For detailed instructions, refer to the My Chaos Guide page. To enable Floating license sharing, click Enable in the three-dot menu.
User installs Enscape and connects to the license
- Download Enscape and begin the installation process. If necessary, adjust the destination folder or click Next to proceed.
- Choose the CAD software you wish to install Enscape for and click Install. Allow the installation to complete.
- At the end of the installation, select your telemetry settings and click Done. You do not need to sign in as you are already connected to an active license.
- You can now use a floating Chaos Enscape license. Check its status by selecting the Manage License link in the Chaos Account window within Enscape or by typing the host's IP address followed by :30304 in a web browser.
