Overview
Each Chaos products import Cosmos assets in the formats and workflows that work best for their users, ensuring compatibility and a smooth experience in the given host application.
Exploring Cosmos Assets in different Chaos products
- In V-Ray for 3ds Max, Maya, and Houdini Cosmos assets import as V-Ray Proxy objects with native V-Ray materials. At the same time, in V-Ray for 3ds Max Cosmos Proxies can be imported in project as mesh for further geometry editing.
- In V-Ray for SketchUp and Rhino imported Cosmos assets are listed in the Asset Editor under the Geometry section, identified by the Cosmos icon. They can be renamed, deleted, used as replacements, moved, and merged. From V-Ray 7 Material Overrides are available without merging assets and converting them to a standard Proxy Mesh. To access other settings such as Scale Factor or Animation asset still has to be merged.
- Upon placement in V-Ray for Revit, the Cosmos asset becomes a native Revit family, and you can move, rotate and copy it. You can also use them to replace other objects in your model.
- In V-Ray for Cinema 4D, a Cosmos asset imports as an "Object" with all materials applied. To bring the full geometry into the scene for editing, make the Cosmos Object editable.
- In Corona for 3ds Max and Cinema 4D, Cosmos assets import as Corona Proxy objects and their materials load as native Corona materials. Similarly to V-Ray, in Corona for 3ds Max Cosmos asset can be Duplicated to mesh.
- In Chaos Vantage and Chaos Envision Cosmos assets import as references that are always extracted from your local Cosmos repository.
- Upon placement in Enscape Cosmos asset becomes an Enscape Component, and you can scale, move, and rotate it. Note that downloaded assets can be reused across different host platforms.
