The Corona Standalone is intended mainly for use by power users and 3rd party plugin developers with special exporters. It does not come in a "studio" version with a graphic interface exposed. All Corona properties from the host application can be exported into it, and developers of exporters have access to all features.
If you want to create a scene in some 3D application that does not have a Corona plugin yet, and you want to render that scene using Corona Standalone, then the only option available for now is first to import the model to another supported application (e.g., 3ds Max or Cinema 4D), or to create an exporter script that saves the model, lights and materials as an OBJ file.

Currently, some of the advantages of using Corona Standalone include:
- Possibility to render 3D scenes without other 3D software (e.g., on a computer without C4D installed)
- Lower RAM usage - Corona Standalone will use less RAM than Cinema 4D
