This scene uses legacy (pre Version 5) displacement. It generally has higher memory consumption compared to new 2.5D displacement. It is recommended to enable this new displacement mode.
The new 2.5D displacement mode is much more memory efficient than the original displacement, allowing for much finer displacement (smaller screen/world size to be specified) while using less memory than previous methods.
It can be controlled via a new checkbox in the Performance tab of the Render Setup dialog and is enabled by default for new scenes but disabled for older scenes, for backward compatibility.
This warning message appears if the currently loaded scene was created with Corona 4 or older, and:
- Displacement is used in it (in any material or through the Corona Displacement Modifier)
and
- Displacement is enabled in the Common tab of the Render Setup window
When this message is displayed, you can choose to either:
- Keep the scene in its original state to guarantee the same displacement appearance as in Corona 4 or older. This is useful when re-rendering an older scene, or specific frames of an animation.
or
- Switch the scene to the new displacement behavior.
If you choose to switch to the new 2.5D displacement through the warning message, the displacement screen size (px) will automatically be divided by 1.5 to best optimize the displacement quality while achieving the benefits of lower RAM consumption. This might slightly change the appearance of the rendered image, improving the overall displacement quality.
The switch to enable the new 2.5D displacement is located in the Performance tab of render setup:
