Do I need to remove the old version before installing a new one?
No, this is not necessary. You can simply run the new installer and install the newest version over the older one. Everything will be fine.
In case you do experience any issues after the installation, as the first step you can try uninstalling the software from the list of programs in your system, and then running the installer again.
