University Collection licenses are floating licenses — a pool of concurrent seats shared across students rather than tied to individuals. The right setup depends on your use case.
Step 1: Determine Your Use Case
- Lab-only, no AI or cloud features needed. → Use Case 1
- Lab-only, but students need AI features or Collaboration. → Use Case 2
- Students need off-campus access on their own laptops. → Use Case 3
Case 1: Lab-Only Access (No Credits)
No student sign-in required. Licenses are issued to machines, not individuals.
What you need:
- A machine on the Lab network to run the Chaos License Server
- A Chaos account with license seats assigned to it
- TCP port 30304 open from Lab computers to the server machine

Case 2: Lab Access + Chaos Credits & Collaboration
Everything in Case 1, plus AI features (Veras, AI Material Generator, etc.) and Collaboration. Students need individual Chaos accounts for these features, but licensing still comes from the Lab server.
Additional requirements:
- A Chaos account for every student who needs these features
- A Credit balance for the Organization

Case 3: Off-Campus Student Access
Students use Chaos software on their own laptops anywhere — no campus network or VPN needed.
What you need:
- A Chaos account for every student
- All concurrent seats assigned to the administrator account
- Floating License Sharing enabled for the Organization
- Recent product versions that support Cloud Licensing

Key Notes
- Academic licenses are for educational use only — not for freelance or commercial work.
- All Enscape, V-Ray, and Corona University Collection licenses include access to the Chaos Cosmos Library (students need individual accounts to download assets).
- Different departments can have separate seat pools using separate accounts with a license server.
