Access render elements in Chaos Cloud

This article explains where to find render elements produced by Chaos Cloud and why V-Ray Frame Buffer post effects (Color Corrections, Lens Effects, and Denoiser) may not appear in the web preview.

Find and download render elements from Chaos Cloud

You can download all render elements from each job’s outputs on the job page.

  1. Before submitting, enable the desired render elements in your scene using V-Ray.
  2. After the render completes in Chaos Cloud, open the job in the Chaos Cloud web app.
  3. In the job’s Outputs or Downloads panel, select the render elements and download them as individual files or as a ZIP archive.
  4. Open the downloaded elements in your compositor or the V-Ray Frame Buffer for review and post-processing.

How Chaos Cloud stores render elements

Chaos Cloud stores render elements in one of two ways, and in both cases it also saves the RGB channel as a separate JPG file.

  • If an output file type/name is specified in your host application: Chaos Cloud saves render elements using your chosen format, plus a separate JPG of the RGB channel.
  • If no output file type/name is specified: Chaos Cloud saves render elements inside a multi‑channel EXR file, plus a separate JPG of the RGB channel.

Exporting render elements from the multi-channel EXR

You can load the EXR in the V-Ray Frame Buffer and save each render element as its own file.

  1. Load the EXR file from Chaos Cloud in the V-Ray Frame Buffer: File > Load image.
  2. Save all render elements to separate files: File > Save all image channels to separate files. Choose the file type and location you prefer.

What you can and can’t preview on the Chaos Cloud page

Chaos Cloud currently does not preview the following VFB features:

  • Color Corrections
  • Lens Effects
  • Denoiser result
  • LightMix

These effects are still rendered on Chaos Cloud and included in your output files; they simply do not appear in the online preview. To view these effects, download your output files and load the effectsResult render element in the VFB or other post-processing software.
