V-Ray Swarm is Chaos Group’s distributed rendering manager. It is often installed alongside V-Ray for SketchUp, Rhino, Revit, or as a standalone component on render nodes. Uninstalling the main V-Ray plugin does not automatically remove V-Ray Swarm - you must uninstall it separately.
Uninstall V-Ray Swarm on Windows:
- Close SketchUp, Rhino, Revit, or any other host application that uses V-Ray.
- Open Settings → Apps → Installed apps (on Windows 10 this is Apps & features).
Alternatively, use Control Panel → Programs and Features. - Locate V-Ray Swarm (or V-Ray Swarm 2) in the list.
- Select it and choose Uninstall.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the process.
You can also run the uninstaller directly if it is present, typically at a path such as:
- C:\Program Files\Chaos Group\V-Ray Swarm\uninstall\installer.exe
- C:\Program Files\Chaos Group\V-Ray\Swarm 1.4\uninstall\installer.exe
- C:\Program Files\Chaos\V-Ray\Swarm 2\uninstall\installer.exe
(Exact path depends on the installed version.)
Uninstall V-Ray Swarm on macOS
macOS
- Quit SketchUp (or the relevant host application).
- Open Finder and navigate to the uninstaller:
- Recent versions: /Applications/Chaos/V-Ray/V-Ray for SketchUp/uninstall
- Older versions (pre-V-Ray 7): /Applications/ChaosGroup/V-Ray/V-Ray for SketchUp/uninstall
- Double-click Uninstaller.app.
- In the uninstaller, check only the V-Ray Swarm option. Uncheck V-Ray itself and any other components you want to keep.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to finish.
