Sometimes, downloading the entire material library (3ds Max | C4D) from our servers is unwanted or impossible - for example, in the case of batch installing Corona on a render farm. Instead, the material library can be downloaded once and then distributed along with the installer. Here is how to do it:
For 3ds Max
- Download the universal installer - https://corona-renderer.com/download/
- Download the material library package:
- For Chaos Corona 12: https://installer.corona-renderer.com/3dsmax/12/MaterialLibrary
Note: in Corona 12, the materials are available both in the Corona Material Library and in Chaos Cosmos!
- For Chaos Corona 11: https://installer.corona-renderer.com/3dsmax/11/MaterialLibrary
- For Chaos Corona 10: https://installer.corona-renderer.com/3dsmax/10/MaterialLibrary
- For Chaos Corona 9: https://installer.corona-renderer.com/3dsmax/9/MaterialLibrary
- For Chaos Corona 8: https://installer.corona-renderer.com/3dsmax/8/MaterialLibrary
- For Corona Renderer 7: https://installer.corona-renderer.com/3dsmax/7/MaterialLibrary
-
Note: the MaterialLibrary file does not come with a file extension! The file name should be just "MaterialLibrary", and this is correct. There is no need to rename or unpack this file!
- For Chaos Corona 12: https://installer.corona-renderer.com/3dsmax/12/MaterialLibrary
- Place the downloaded MaterialLibrary file next to the universal installer. Make sure that the MaterialLibrary file is placed next to the unpacked executable installer file (.exe), not the downloaded archive. For example, if the universal installer is located in C:\Downloads, then place the MaterialLibrary file in C:\Downloads as well:
- Run the universal installer and proceed with the standard installation.
- The universal installer will install the Material Library from the local folder instead of downloading it.
The material library installation can also be safely canceled or skipped entirely - See: How to install Corona Renderer without additional data?

3. Place the downloaded MaterialLibrary file next to the universal installer. Make sure that the MaterialLibrary file is placed next to the unpacked executable installer file (.exe), not the downloaded archive. For example, if the universal installer is located in C:\Corona Renderer, then place the MaterialLibrary file in C:\Corona Renderer as well:
Mac OS users- e.g., if the universal installer is located in the folder ~/Desktop/Corona Installer, then place the MaterialLibrary file in ~/Desktop/Corona Installer as well.
4. Run the universal installer and proceed with the standard installation (there is no need to use the "Custom" installation type or to check or uncheck any options).
Windows users: Simply open the universal installer file (the .exe file).
Mac OS users: Simply open the Corona Renderer installer by double-clicking on the appropriate icon.
5. Material Library installation:
Windows users: The universal installer will install the Material Library from the local folder instead of downloading it. Simply wait for the installation process to complete.
Mac users: After the Corona installation is complete, run the Material Library package (.pkg file) file to install it. Continue until the installation of the Material Library is complete.
