When using Live-Link connection, Chaos Vantage can produce different lighting result than the V-Ray Frame Buffer. Here's a short list of known causes of discrepancies:
3ds Max native Exposure Control
Currently, Chaos Vantage does not support the native 3ds Max exposure settings.
GI bounces
By default, Chaos Vantage has a limit of 2 GI bounces (Render Settings > Lighting) calculated for the scene. For interior rendering, where the scene lighting depends mostly on the GI conditions, this value can be increased to 4 in order to match the lighting result from the VFB.
Clamp secondary rays
The Clamp secondary rays option (Render Settings > Advanced > Lighting) is used to suppress the contribution of very bright secondary (GI/reflection/refraction) rays that usually cause excessive noise/fireflies. Setting low values (less than 200) for it may lead to darker than the VFB results.
V-Ray frame buffer color corrections
Effects and color corrections applied in the VFB do not get exported to Vantage.
Here's how to workaround it:
Export the VFB Color Corrections as a LUT by right-clicking on the Display Correction layer in the VFB and choosing "Save All CCs as LUT".
Location of the Save CCs as LUT option in the VFB - Load the .LUT file in Vantage.
