How to Render Corona for 3ds Max Animations in Vantage

Note: this article covers specifically the rendering of animations in Vantage. For general information on exporting Corona scenes to Vantage, see: How to Export and Render Corona for 3ds Max Scenes in Vantage

From Corona 13 onwards, you can now send your 3ds Max animations directly to Chaos Vantage. This makes it super easy to preview and render animations with real-time speed and quality. Here’s how to do it step-by-step:

Step 1: (Optional) Start Live Link

You can use the Live Link option to preview your animation before rendering it in Vantage. This step is optional. You can skip it and jump straight to Step 2 if you're ready to render your animation.

  1. Open your animated scene in 3ds Max.

  2. Go to Render Setup > System and click Vantage Live Link to preview your animation in real time.

You can also use the Corona toolbar button that looks like a small Vantage icon to start or stop Live Link.

Note: Once Live Link starts, your 3ds Max scene will open in Chaos Vantage. Any animation you scrub in the timeline will also show in Vantage in real-time.

  3. Check the Scene in Vantage
  • Scrub the timeline in 3ds Max to preview your animation inside Vantage and make sure it looks correct.
  • You can adjust the timeline/animation in 3dsMax and see it update live in Vantage.
  • Once everything looks fine, go back to 3ds Max and stop Live Link.

  • This allows Vantage to render the animation using the live-linked data from 3ds Max.
  • Vantage will now open a Render Setup window.

Step 3: Final Render Settings in Vantage

In the Vantage render window:

  1. Make sure “Sequence” is selected (not still image).
  2. Set:
  3. Optional: Enable Render Elements and pick the ones you need.

 Notes

  • You cannot export the scene to Vantage for standalone rendering. Vantage just reads the animation live from 3ds Max. So, any changes you make inside Vantage (like moving objects or changing lights) will not show up in the final render. You must make all changes in 3ds Max.
  • You need Chaos Vantage installed. You can download latest version of Vantage from here: Download Vantage
  • Make sure your GPU meets Vantage requirements.
  • You can monitor the render progress in Vantage directly.
