How to use AI Enhancer in Corona for Cinema 4D

Overview

The Corona AI Enhancer is a powerful new feature introduced in Corona 13 for Cinema 4D, designed to improve the visual quality of your renders using advanced artificial intelligence algorithms. It intelligently enhances details and reduces noise in your images without increasing render times, making it a valuable tool for artists seeking both speed and quality. With easy integration into your rendering workflow, the AI Enhancer helps you achieve stunning results with minimal effort.

Step 1: Add the AiEnhancer Render Pass

To enable the AI Enhancer functionality, you need to make sure the AiEnhancer render pass is added to your scene. This is a crucial step, as the render pass provides data that are used to guide AI enhancement process. It contains Z-Depth data, material ID, and Instance ID.

Note: If the ZDepth pass is present, it provides the Z-Depth data instead. The user can set a more fitting distance range there. Otherwise, the camera clipping distances are used if available.

Step 2: Upload the Image with AI Enhancer Data

Once your image is rendered with the AiEnhancer pass included, the next step is to upload the image to Chaos Cloud Collaboration. Complete the upload as shown below:

Note: The width or height of the rendered image for the AI Enhancer to work must be no less than 512px and no more than 2048px.

Note: different operations are performed on the output depending on its resolution.

Rendered image (longer edge)

Result

more than 4096px

The image is downscaled to 4096px on its longer edge. The enhanced image is also 4096px on its longer edge.

3840px to 4096px

The rendered image is passed to the enhancer as-is. The enhanced image resolution is the same as the rendered image resolution.

1920px to 3839px

The rendered image is first downscaled and then upscaled. The enhanced image resolution is 4096px.

1024px to 1919px

The rendered image is upscaled. The enhanced image resolution is 4096px.

less than 1024px

The rendered image is upscaled 4x. The enhanced image resolution is between 4 times the original resolution up to 4096px. In this case, the final resolution may be lower than 4096px.

Step 3: Enhance the Image in Cloud Collaboration

After uploading your rendered image to Chaos Cloud Collaboration, you can easily apply the AI Enhancer to improve its visual quality.

To do this:

  1. Navigate to the project where you uploaded the image.
  2. Open the image you want to enhance.
  3. Click the "Enhance" button.

Step 4: Wait for the Enhancement to Complete

Once you click Enhance, the AI processing may take some time depending on the image resolution and data complexity. When the process is complete, the enhanced version of your image will be automatically saved in Chaos Cloud Collaboration. This new version will appear alongside your original image, making it easy to download the improved result.
