There are two types of reinstallations - a basic one and an advanced (or a ‘clean reinstallation’) one. Please note, that the advanced reinstallation is Windows specific.
The basic reinstallation is quite straightforward. You have to either use the Enscape ‘Uninstaller’ (Mac) or the ‘Add or Remove Programs’ menu (Windows). For reference, you can check the ‘Remove Enscape’ page of the documentation.
Afterwards, you can just run the Enscape installer, which you can acquire from here.
The advanced, or ‘clean’ reinstallation, involves the removal of any leftover files and folders. To do so, please follow these steps:
- Navigate to Add/Remove programs in Windows.
- Uninstall Enscape, the Chaos Unified Login and the Chaos License Server by using the 'Uninstall' button
Following the completion of the uninstall, delete the following directories using Windows File Explorer:
C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming\Enscape
C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Enscape
C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Temp\Enscape
C:\Program Files\Enscape
and the following file - %localappdata%\Chaos\UnifiedLogin\ula.db
C:\Program Files\Chaos\VRLService
C:\Program Files\Chaos\UnifiedLogin
Use Windows' search option to look for and delete any remaining "Enscape" and "Chaos" files and folders.
Afterwards, restart your computer and you’re ready to install Enscape again.
